Cuando visitas Tela es casi obligatorio dar un recorrido por el Parque Nacional Jeanette Kawas Fernandez y por la zona núcleo “Punta Sal”.
Antes de viajar debes asegurarte que el clima sea el más adecuado y estés en la época del año más idónea. La ruta se emprende en lancha desde Barra Vieja en Tela. Al llegar a la playa “cocalito” -45 minutos después- debes reportarte en el centro de información, donde te brindarán las recomendaciones y cuidados durante tu visita.
El costo para visitar el parque nacional es desde $5 para extranjeros, estudiantes 10 lempiras y los nacionales pagan alrededor de 30 lempiras ($1.50); si vas a acampar hay un costo adicional.
Algunos datos interesantes que debes saber es que no hay conexión a internet, el sitio cuenta con apenas una choza, por lo que se puede descansar en un relax total, sin bullicio más que el de la madre naturaleza. Dentro de la isla se prohibe el consumo de bebidas alcohólicas, la portación de armas de fuego, alto parlantes, tirar basura, cazar o pescar en sitios no autorizados, extraer plantas, animales o minerales así como hacer fogatas. Una recomendación muy importante es protegerte de los mosquitos o zancudos, que abundan en la isla.
Apreciar este ecosistema es maravilloso; te transportas a una isla griega o algo parecido.
